"4:44": Jay-Z's New Album Will Inspire All Who Aspire to Be Great in Life
On June 30, rapper, business mogul and living legend Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter dropped his 13th studio album titled “4:44.”
As expected and per usual, the hype and anticipation for Jay’s new album were extremely high. I’ve been blasting the album throughout my apartment since its release and I can say without a doubt that Mr. Carter did not disappoint with this one.
The album “4:44,” consists of 10 tracks that each tell a story. Upon listening to the opening track titled “Kill Jay-Z,” one can easily sense that this album will show a more open, vulnerable, and brutally honest Jay-Z that we all have never seen before. As a die-hard fan of Jay-Z, I listened to each song intensively. After finishing the entire album, I felt like I “knew” Jay a bit more but, more importantly, the album made me want to become any and everything my heart desires.
Now, the media and blogs are going to focus on how he admits to cheating on his wife, mega superstar Beyoncé, how his mother comes out as a lesbian, and his response to Kanye’s rant about him last November. However, I would like to put focus on all the wonderful life gems that Jay drops throughout the entire album that people should pay attention to.
As I stated previously, the album as a whole makes me want to become any and everything my heart desires, but there’s one track that stands out greatly amongst the others for me and it’s titled “The Story of OJ.”
Simply put, this record goes hard for numerous reasons! On the record, Jay speaks “super facts” on things such as the importance of investing, spending your money wisely, and maintaining a good credit score. It’s a record that only the grown and mature will appreciate and instantly feel the motivation to do better in life. There’s also an animated music video for “The Story of OJ” that’s a must watch!
A couple of other amazing tracks on the album that are also inspiring are called “Family Feud” and “Legacy.” “Family Feud” speaks on supporting black owned businesses and being your own business; and “Legacy” which is the closing track on the album, speaks on leaving generational wealth for your family’s future generations. The songs provide knowledge that not only black people but all people should soak in.
If you’re looking for “turn-up” tracks and tracks to get “lit” to, then “4:44” is not the album for you. If you’re a supporter of the “mumble rap” that plagues music today and boast about how much money one has to spend frivolously, then you definitely won’t enjoy this album. However, if you’re all about positivity, growth, becoming everything you want to be in life and more, then this album is 100 percent for you.
To me, this is Jay’s best album in a very long time because he aspires to inspire anyone who has a dream to become something major while also at the same time letting us in on his personal thoughts, feelings, and shortcomings. I highly recommend that everybody listen to this album! I promise if you do, you will be doing yourself a tremendous favor!
